Life in the Woods' amazing debut premiered at Radio ARA's CD-tipp of next week!!

"Rock music has been pronounced dead for thirty years and counting. Sensible, because rock has lost its central role for youth: transgression and rebellion live elsewhere, these days. Most of the time, today’s young people are more attracted by somewhere else, yet some fall in awe of a distorted guitar, a rolling bass that pushes forward, the clash of drums and cymbals. Their peers make fun of them because they listen to Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Ramones or Pearl Jam – and they couldn’t care less. Sometimes, they want to become an active part of the Myth rather than sitting in the audience.

I’ve known a lot of lads with this dream, but few like Life In The Woods. When I was introduced to them, less than two years ago, I couldn’t believe their ages added up to 60. Also, they were obviously extremely deep inside a sound and, mostly, an attitude which should make no sense to them. When such fire burns inside, being born in the outskirts of the Rock Empire is not much of a luck, yet attempting to do it anyway becomes an imperative. Unchained inspiration and hard work have thus generated their debut recording: five songs, a difficult selection from a much wider roster of songs, crossed by intense vibes and offering wonderful melodies. These are untamed songs, which spring massive energy and fantasy. The fiery and epic assults of Manifesto, Nothing Is and Man Of Constant Sorrow, as well as the nearly-psychedelic visions of Hey Blue and The Ballad Of No One, descend from a special mix of talent, truth, recklesness and weasel faces. This is a real classic of passion, which gives shivers even to those who, like me, have been living on rock for half a century. It doesn’t happen very often, and I sort of have the horrible feeling that it may mean something.."

This is how Federico Guglielmi, one of the most influential Italian music journalists, presents the astonishing debut EP of Life In The Woods, young power trio from Rome. Blue has been produced by Gianni Maroccolo (iconic musician and producer, from Litfiba to CCCP, CSI and much more) and will be released on October 31st by Contempo Recordsthe historic label based in Florence, a trademark for brave and high-quality productions.

"Their sound reminds us of the great bands of classic rock of the 70s, but comparisons are an understatement. The introspective lyrics to the songs probe human weakness, and are supported by broken melodies which penetrate the electric wall raised by an uncommon guitar talent. The voice easily extends over three octaves and moves seamlessly from a warm and intimate tone to a tearing scream.
Life In The Woods’ name pays a tribute to US philosopher and writer Henry David Thoreau, known to the general public from the movie Dead Poets Society. Like him, they look for an answer to the existential angst caused by the mercification of social relationships. Their music sucks the self-same marrow of life which nurtured the Dead Poets. Blue is the proof that the poets and notes are not dead at all: as long as there’s a breath in music, Life In The Woods will make it their own."

Sentieri Sonori will proudly present Blue's premiere throughout next week.
First, one song par day, from Monday (October 28th) to Friday (November 1st) at 6pm, at Radio ARA's CD-tipp (album of the week), to then welcome the band to our show on Saturday morning (11:30am/1pm), for an interview.
Do not miss the occasion to discover this amazing debut!!
